Presenter: Daniel B. Morehead, MD
Topic: 'What on Earth are We Doing?:
Creativity and the Brain in Psychotherapy'
Dr. Morehead will explore ways that a neuroscientific understanding of creativity can shed light on the mysterious and unpredictable process of discovery and the emergence of new meanings in the mind of the therapist and the psychotherapeutic process.
Dr. Morehead is former assistant residency director at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry, where he trained and practiced before moving to Austin to enter private practice. He has been active in teaching neuroscience and psychotherapy to psychiatry residents and other psychotherapists. With a background in the liberal arts and religious studies, he has also been engaged in speaking, teaching and writing about the interface between psychology, religion, neuroscience, and evolutionary psychiatry. He has served as Adjunct Faculty at the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Clinical Faculty with the UT Southwestern Psychiatry Residency at Austin, and as consulting psychiatrist with the Samaritan Center for Pastoral Counseling.
*Free parking is available in the Seton parking garage across Medical Parkway next to Austin Medical Plaza. You may park in the main Seton garage for a fee.
