Presenter: Mary Holman, LPC
Topic: 'Home Sweet Home and Other Stories'
This presentation will explore some of the meaning of home--its relationship to a sense of how to be, how it serves as a container of memories, and how it is an extension of our first container/contained relationships. These themes will be developed using personal reflections, poetry and discussion of psychoanalytic theory. Work with a child whose drawings were a key element in finding a home to return to each week will show how the creative process helped the patient use the psychic and physical space of the consulting room and our relationship held within it.
Mary M. Holman, LPC, has a private practice working with adults and children. She completed a training program in Object Relations Theory and Practice at the International Psychotherapy Institute (IPI) near Washington, D.C. Mary is Past President of ASPP and has also served on the Board as Education Chair.
